A NEW CHAPTER IN SARAWAK’S ENERGY JOURNEY BEGINS AT ADONG KECHIL WEST (AKW)

Aerial view of the Adong Kechil West (AKW) oil field, where Sarawak’s First Oil marks a historic milestone in the revival of the State’s onshore oil and gas industry after nearly five decades. 

This achievement reflects Sarawak’s growing capability to develop its own petroleum resources while strengthening long-term energy security and economic resilience.

With an estimated production of 800 barrels of oil per day, or approximately 24,000 barrels per month, the project unlocks petroleum resources that had remained untapped for generations, paving the way for the responsible development of Sarawak’s vast onshore energy potential.

The Premier of Sarawak extends its heartfelt congratulations to PETROS and PETRA Energy on this landmark achievement. 

As Sarawak continues its journey towards a sustainable and prosperous energy future, this milestone stands as a testament to the expertise, determination and unwavering spirit of our people.
