KOTA SAMARAHAN: The State GPS Government had approved a total of RM1.497 billion worth of projects for implementation under the Integrated Regional Samarahan Development agency (IRSDA), Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Johari Tun Abang Haji Openg said here today.
The allocation sourced from the alternative funding involved 519 projects, the Chief Minister said in a press conference at Dewan Suarah after chairing the State Development Coordination Committee (SDCC) hosted by Samarahan Division at the Drainage and Irrigation Department Office, here.
Of the 519 projects, 161 are on infrastructure (RM452.34 mil), 343 on coastal drainage and protection (RM840.82 mil), six on agriculture (RM103.00 mil) and nine on tourism development (RM100.00 mil), he told reporters.
He said under the Sarawak water supply Grid Programme in stressed area, RM453.90 mil had been approved by the State Government to implement 21 projects to solve the water supply problem faced by the people in the Samarahan Division.
Clean water would be channelled from the Bengoh Dam to Asajaya, Simunjan and Sebuyau areas with the need to strengthen the Batang Sadong bridge on which the main pipes would be mounted, he added.
Under the Projek Rakyat, the State Government had approved 30 projects for the division with a total cost of RM221.03 million, he said.
Meanwhile, under the 11th Malaysia Plan period the State Government had approved a ceiling of RM336.72 million for the implementation of 64 projects in the Division.
Earlier, Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Johari joined the people of Samarahan comprising community leaders at a luncheon at the same venue.
Later, the day’s programme ended with a visit to the Samarahan Industrial Estate Project Site and the Wholesale Market.
